Linux in Schools: MESD

• First experience with Linux was placing Squid proxy servers at each site.

• Web, ftp, dns, dhcp, and mail servers replaced with Linux, displacing HP/UX, NT, and Netware

• Oracle development moved to Linux

• Central authentication implemented using OpenLDAP

• With in one year, 90% of core network services moved to Linux!
